Our Story

Kleiman International’s partners—Gary Kleiman, Senior Partner and Beth Morrissey, Managing Partner—founded the firm in New York City in 1987, the same year the term “emerging markets” was coined at the World Bank Group. We maintained offices on Wall Street prior to relocating to Washington, DC in 1992.

About Our Partners

The firm’s partners regularly participate in international conferences and seminars and contribute to international economic and financial publications. They are frequently contacted by the media for independent assessments of market and economic developments.

GARY N. KLEIMAN Senior Partner

Before co-founding our company, Gary held positions with international consulting firms in New York and Washington, as well as with the United Nations. Gary, magna cum laude graduate of the Georgetown University School of Foreign Service, has also earned advanced degrees from the London School of Economics and the Institut d’Etudes Politiques (Paris).

Gary has been an adjust professor at Georgetown University School of Foreign Service, a financial sector expert for the International Monetary Fund (IMF)/World Bank’s First Initiative, and a regular contributor to the Financial Times, Asia Times, and International Economy. He is a cited member of the Breton Woods Committee and listed in Marquis’ Who’s Who in America.

He is often called on to provide expert witness testimony for court cases focused on issues such as debt repayment capacity and terrorism financing in emerging economies. Gary is also actively working to create new financial instruments for the private sector to help fund migrant assistance. There are ongoing discussions with global banks and international refugee and development organizations.

ELIZABETH R. MORRISSEY Managing Partner

Beth has worked for international consulting firms in New York and a research group in Washington before co-founding our firm. 

She is a frequent speaker at international conferences and
seminars. Beth has served on the Board of Admissions and International Committee of the University Club of Washington, DC, and is listed in the Who’s Who in Finance. She also started a PFLAG Chapter and established an independent group for the LGBTQ+ youth in her community.
